In 1931, when Berend Flier developed the first soil blocker in his forge in Barendrecht, the foundation was created for a long list of innovations.
Management is now in its third generation, but we still work hard every day to bring technological improvements and innovations that help horticultural clients achieve more quality, efficiency and profitability.
Berend devised and produced simple tools, helping local farmers and growers to work better and more efficiently. In other words, the technological solutions by Flier Systems made the local growers better suppliers.
85 years on, this is still the main driving force for Flier. The way we work has been perfected over the years. Below are some of the milestones for Flier Systems throughout its 85-year history.
1931
The basis for today’s Flier was already created in 1931; a forge where simple yet efficient solutions were made.
1947
We are proud to be able to say: Berend Flier is the inventor of the soil-blocking machine. This machine allowed growers to efficiently make press pots of a higher quality. For Flier, it signified the start of a long list of innovations.
1960
When Berend’s son Bert took over his father’s work in 1960, he started automating entire processes. The feat of automating the entire seeding process was a fact with the arrival of the Tray Filler and the Drum Seeder.
2005
45 years after his grandfather, Ard took the reins. Ard and his colleagues started developing vision technologies for grading and sorting young plants and pot plants.
