Collaboration of Unger Maschinenbau and Flier Systems

Collaboration of Unger Maschinenbau and Flier Systems

Both family businesses are delighted to announce that they originated a wonderful collaboration. Because of the tightened Covid-19 measures, a joint contract signing moment is unfortunately not possible. However, both parties would like to explain the partnership and elaborate on this.

Walter Unger, Co-owner of Unger Maschinenbau: ‘We have come across Flier Systems many times already and there has always been mutual respect. We have also experienced that both companies think like family businesses and value long-lasting customer relationships. In the core, both companies fit well together; we both do what we promise and strive for customer satisfaction. That has always been my father’s and mine goal; establish long term customer relationships and keep supporting them with knowledge, expertise and machines. For me personally now is the moment to make choices for the future.  I have decided to stop the further production of machines for young plant growers. In order to make this decision, I wanted to make sure that our customers still would be helped and supported in the future. They have been loyal to our company for years. This is the reason we searched for collaboration with Flier Systems. We already have done a few successful projects together at MK Jungpflanzen, Christian Bärthele Bio-jungpflanzen and Schwanteland Jungpflanzen. This convinced me that Flier Systems is the right partner for the future.’

Ad Kranendonk, Head of Sales and Business Development at Flier Systems and Bart Eekhout, Technical Sales Engineer responsible for the German market, are proud of the collaboration with Unger Maschinenbau. ‘We have a lot of respect for the solid and high-quality Unger products and learn from Unger customers that they are very satisfied with these. Flier Systems has decided to continue development of soil blocking machines. We even introduced a brand new model Soil blocking machine, the PP24, recently. Flier Systems is also searching for collaborations, for example with substrate suppliers, to be part of the pressing pot of the future. It is our goal to automize and mechanize the production area of the young plant grower and we see this collaboration as the right step at the right moment. Because of the created partnership, Walter Unger can guarantee his customers that they can keep counting on innovations and developments. His enormous expertise and experience is also retained and can be transferred.’

“We are honoured that Walter Unger entitles our soil blocking machine as a worthy successor. My grandfather, the founder of Flier Systems, is the inventor of the soil blocking machine. This makes me the third generation that is behind the wheel of our beautiful company. Splendid that this family business is becoming a partner of a German family business that also has a big name in the market,” says Ard Flier, director of Flier Systems.

Unger will be doing the service on their own installation and equipment for the time being. The tools for additions and existing installations will be handled by Unger as well. Walter Unger’s customers will be approached personally to make the transition run as smooth as possible. The ultimate goal is to continue to support all customers in the best possible way, both in the near future and in the long run.
